On Saturday 1 March, the Koningshof in Maassluis was the setting for an impressive musical spectacle. Brassband Rijnmond gave its annual ‘Brass Connections’ concert and this year did so together with the world-famous Belgian alto horn soloist Tim De Maeseneer. The audience thoroughly enjoyed an evening full of virtuosity and musical class.
Honorary membership for Dik van Doorn
A special moment during the evening was the appointment of Dik van Doorn as honorary member of Brassband Rijnmond. Dik has been involved with the band since its foundation and has dedicated himself heart and soul for many years. With this award, his dedication and contribution were appropriately honoured, which was met with loud applause from both the musicians and the audience.
Inspiring workshop
Prior to the concert, Tim De Maeseneer gave an inspiring workshop for alto horn players. Participants were given the opportunity to learn from one of the best in the world. With valuable tips and personal guidance, Tim managed to inspire the group and take it to a higher level.
Brassband Rijnmond in top form
Brassband Rijnmond also performed the selection work for the European Championships. The motivation to start the intensive preparations for the European Brassband Championship was already clearly audible: the band played with unprecedented energy. Together with Tim De Maeseneer, they provided a program that captivated the audience from start to finish.
The concert was received with loud applause and the evening ended with a standing ovation. A successful musical experience that both the musicians and the audience can look back on with pride!
We would like to thank our sponsor Besson, without them this great concert with a world soloist would not have been possible!
