With an impressive performance of the spectacular test piece “Sand and Stars” by French composer Thierry Deleruyelle, Brassband Rijnmond has reconfirmed its position at the top of the Dutch brass band world.
Brass band Rijnmond had to wait exactly 15 years to take the cup home. Conductor Luc Vertommen, who took over the leadership of the band since the summer, was able to motivate the musicians in a short time to work together as a well-oiled team and achieve great achievements together.
The composer praised the conductor and band with the following words: "Grande classe! Manifique performance, j'ai adoré. Bravo!" . The passionate performance was rewarded with 97 out of 100 points by judges Florent Didier, Frans Violet and Sheona Wade. Some quotes from the jury reports indicate how the performance was appreciated: “Finale performed very impressively. Bravo to everyone. ", "Thank you for your performance today. A lot of very fine playing and well done to all the soloist.” and “Thank you for a very nice performance! Some excellent technical work, good mood and very good soloists.”
With this victory, the band can further develop together with conductor Luc Vertommen in the run-up to the European Brass Band Championships that will be held in Stavanger, Norway in 2025.
But first the band will focus on the program for “Premier Brass” with the Amsterdam Staff Band on Saturday, November 25 in Vlaardingen and the traditional Christmas carols on December 18 and 19 in the Oude Kerk in Maasland.
Brassband Rijnmond thanks the “Dutch Brass Band Championships Foundation” for the perfect organization of this event and congratulates Provinciale Brass Band Groningen and De Bazuin Oenkerk on the 2nd and 3rd places achieved.
