On December 18 and 19, 2023, Brassband Rijnmond was a guest in the beautiful Old Church in Maasland, which had a fairytale atmosphere with a Christmas tree, Christmas decorations and real candlelight.
In this nostalgic Christmas ambiance, Brassband Rijnmond passionately played a variety of Christmas music under the direction of conductor Luc Vertommen. In addition to accompanying the congregational singing led by conductor Alan Gibson, Brass Band Rijnmond also played its own repertoire consisting of choral music, solo works and well-known swinging Christmas numbers. The contrast between the well-known Christmas carols and the swinging Christmas music proved to be well received by the audience. This music sounded great in the beautiful acoustics of the church. The audience in the church, which was completely filled on both evenings, thoroughly enjoyed it. Organist Reinier Kroos and flautist Astrid Termorshuizen also played an important role in the program. Their improvisations and duets were also very appreciated by the audience.
The formula of congregational singing, organ, soloists and brass band in the Christmas spirit has been a success for years. This year too, the church was occupied to the last seat on both evenings, so this formula has not lost any of its power. Afterwards, the audience gave all the main actors and Brass Band Rijnmond a big applause and a standing ovation!
Brassband Rijnmond thanks the organization of this Christmas singing and especially the initiators Mart and Coby van Buuren. Without their efforts, these evenings, which for many are now the start of the Christmas celebrations, would not have been possible.
It was a great pleasure for the members and the conductor of Brassband Rijnmond to contribute to this once again perfectly organized Christmas singing. We are already looking forward to the Christmas singing again in 2024.
Brassband Rijnmond wishes you happy holidays and a wonderful New Year!
