Wednesday January 20, 2021, Brassband Rijnmond organized a "Zoom session" with the well-known conductor Nicholas Childs and his wife Alison from the world famous Black Dyke Band.
Nick and Alison talked candidly about conducting and playing in their wonderful brassband and took a lot of time to answer all the questions of the BBR members. Interesting anecdotes and stories about the history of the Black Dyke Band were mixed with impressive video recordings.
Nick closed the session with a word of hope and indicated that there was a light at the end of the "Corona-tunnel". Afterwards, Nick and Alison showed a recording of the ending of Eric Ball's famous "Journey into Freedom". This beautiful piece of music precisely underlined Nick's hopeful words to the band members.
Brassband Rijnmond would like to thank Nick and Alison for this educational, motivating, and fun Zoom meeting and would also like to thank the initiators!
This shared event during the lockdown was a great way to strengthen the group feeling and motivation of the members of the band.
